Man, I’m bad at blogging! I’m going to try to be better.
Speaking of resolutions, one of my writing resolutions for this year is to correct my slow editing tendancies by becoming a skilled, joyful editor. I don’t know if the joyful part will happen, but I’m headed to Balitmore today for a three day workshop to make me more skilled. I heard about this retreat from Patrick Freivald, an awesome horror writer I met at HWA’s Stokercon. He told me that the experience was painful, but kicked his writing up to the next level.
Oh man, that’s just what I wanted.
So as soon as I got home, I applied. It’s expensive, sure, but if you add up how much I’ve spent on editing books and editors, it doesn’t seem so bad. My hubby and I worked out the money and I was ACCEPTED! I’m going to be closed in a room with fifteen other writers, bigwig editors, and an eviscerating author, going over my last novel’s first 30 pages and concepts with a fine-toothed comb.
I’m shaking in my boots, guys.
I’ll let you know how it goes, but if you want to check out the Writers Bootcamp, click this link: https://www.borderlandspress.com/writers-boot-camp/
Wish me luck and lots of Band-Aids.
